Plus One woofer cones
This patent pending technology deliver a cone with more surface area than competing models of the same size. The result is increased bass output and higher efficiency.
Rubber surrounds
This woofer surround material provides optimum cone-edge suspension and absorbs distortions that may travel up the cone edge, adding stronger low-end.
True Four Ohms
All Reference speakers feature two ohm voice coils. Original factory-installed speaker wiring in many cars is 18-22 gauge. This wire, and heating in the voice coil when power is applied, increase the impedance "seen" by the amplifier or head unit. The impedance of Reference Speakers has been adjusted to compensate for this increase and can be safely driven by any head unit.
Edge-driven textile dome tweeter
These are not commonly used w-domes, but fully-edge-driven domes like those found in better home audio speakers. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output levels. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer.
Crossover network with tweeter adjustment
Each Infinity Reference component system includes a pair of laboratory optimized passive crossover networks that include tweeter adjustment. If the tweeters are located low in the doors or if you are looking for a brighter sound, you can set the tweeter at +3dB.
Versatile Mounting
To facilitate proper installation and location of the tweeter, each Reference component system includes Infinity's patented I-Mount (patent no. 5,859,917) tweeter mounting kit including the Starfish OEM adapter.

I purchased a set of these about 6 months ago to replace the front factory Dodge Infinity speakers that were blown in my Durango. I just installed them and kept the factory amp and did not install the included crossovers. They sounded pretty good (the highs were much better than the factory tweeters), but the low end was lacking unless the volume was pushed up. Not a big deal since I also have a small subwoofer, but it was noticeable. When my back pair of factory Infinity's died, I purchase another pair of these and this time installed the crossovers for both front and back and added an aftermarket amplifier (Kicker ZX350.4, 90 watt per channel amp). WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The sound came alive. The lows from these are incredible and I almost don't need the sub (almost...these speakers seem to be good to around 80Hz and then fall off pretty fast, my sub is good for the lower frequencies and I have the crossover set to 80Hz for that). Still, all the way down to 80Hz is really good for 6 inch door speakers! Of course having great big Durango doors probably helps!
Anyhow, if you are getting these for your vehicle, and you want them to sound their best, you really should back them up with an aftermarket amplifier and use the included crossovers. If not, they still sound better than factory speakers, even the "premium" ones! I am very pleased with these.

Just so you know, the specs here say 75 watss RMS, These are actually 90 watts RMS. You also might want to note that they are 2 ohm speakers.

Purchased these to replace the OEM component speakers in the doors of my 2004 S2000. Installation required pulling the door panels off which is not very difficult on the S2000. The woofer required using the supplied adapter ring to fit into place where the OEM woofer was. The tweeter required some adaptation and a #6 3/8 inch screw and nut to secure it into place where the OEM tweeter was. The OEM tweeter was simply glued to a metal bracket and held into place. The bracket did have a hole which was used to secure the tweeter into place. Overall the installation took about an hour per door panel.
The sound quality is far superior to the OEM speakers and Infinity makes some really excellent tweeters which are extremely clear. I purchased these in order to upgrade the sound and to be able to hear the music more clearly while driving with the top down and in those respects, these speakers perform in an outstanding manner. As well, they also produce better than expected low end sound given the size of the speaker.
