Edge-Driven, Mylar-Titanium Super Tweeter
The JBL GTO938 uses a 1/2-inch (12-millimeter) Mylar-titanium (My-Ti) super tweeter with a large voice coil--much like a voice coil found in high-end home audio speakers. The benefit of the Mylar and titanium blend in making a tweeter is that it is lightweight and has remarkable strength. At the same time, its large voice coil increases power handling and reduces distortion at high output levels. This tweeter design also helps create more seamless integration with the woofer. The GTO638's tweeter is even adjustable, so you can modify it to optimize the sound. The result? Crystal-clear, extended high frequencies for true, high-end, audiophile-quality performance.
Edge-Driven, Mylar-Titanium Tweeter

Plus One technology gives the GTO938 more cone surface than competing models of the same size--up to 30 percent more in many cases. Powerful Performance
True 4-Ohm Topology
Low-impedance speaker voice coils extract more power from your amp for more powerful performance than high-impedance coils do. JBL GTO938 speakers use a lower-impedance voice coil than a typical 4-ohm speaker to extract the most power possible from all amplifiers engineered to drive loads of 4 ohms or less. And the GTO938 is compatible with both aftermarket head units and factory-installed systems. Since many factory-installed systems incorporate 2-ohm speakers and include amplifiers designed to drive 2-ohm loads, replacing those reduced-impedance speakers with a typical 4-ohm model will reduce the power output from the amplifier. For the most powerful performance, the GTO938 makes the best use of any amplifier by providing an optimum 2-ohm load.

No special tools needed
Doing it yourself? JBL makes installing the GTO938 speakers a breeze. Designed as replacements for factory-installed OEM speakers, they easily install into nearly any factory-built 6� X 9� location without any special tools or additional modifications. i always loved JBL's bass power and quality of sound but these ones are something else because they are very powerful . they almost sound like a 8 inch sub and it makes me wanna look at my mirrors more cause its very enjoyable to see the cone of the speaker. basically if you're looking for a set of 6 X 9 these are the best you can get, i had kenwood, sony and pioneer speakers but JBL is awesome. right now JBL and INFINITY are both manufactured by the same company so i assume they sound the same if you don't like the look of this one which i don't see why you wouldn't you can go with infinity as well.

After spending about a month waiting for some money and finally getting it, i was looking around at several other 6x9s such as Kenwoods and Pioneers and they all looked good. Then i went on some external websites and found a review of 10 of the top 6x9 speakers on the market today and, amazingly since these JBL's are cheaper than some of the competitors, they were rated top notch in every category. So I went for it.
They arrived quickly, as you would expect from amazon. I immediately got to work boring out an area for them, since my car previously had 6.5's in the back. After that, I had to wait for some time to get money for a deck, since the one I just had blew up in a cloud of smoke.
Now, for the past month, I've had them hooked up with a Pioneer TS-W303R 12" 4-Ohm Subwoofer hooked up as my sub. I'm running them through a simply ancient Kenwood KAC-846 from the 90's with a blown channel. It's running a sub on a low pass crossover bridged on one pair of inputs and these shoved into the non blown channel on the other. And the verdict?
Simply Staggering!!!! I never knew such perfect headphone-quality sound was possible in a car. I have made several people storm off because there $1000+ dollar systems get blown away by these babies. Nearest to perfect sound that you can get in car audio.
The tweeters are crisp, clear and concise, the mids are perfect with voices coming out well above everything else and the lows.......I never knew such bass could come out of one small pair of 6x9s. I even have a friend who is a professional audio sales person come by and listen to them and he nearly lost his jaw in amazement because of the clear sound these things produce. They are nearly studio monitor sound with a proper tune, and thats a really rare thing in car audio.
Cons? Well, i do wish it had push terminal inputs instead of ones you have to solder the cables on.
All in all, i would buy several more pairs of these and have been recommending them left and right. Buy them, you will not regret it.

Installed these in my son's car and they are AWESOME!!! The bass is excellent. Very clean sound. No amp is even needed. JBL's are the best.
